Suitable for those who have little or no experience of the internet, but want to find out the basics of what it is and what it does. Where feasible, this includes a set of written notes taken during your lesson. Topics covered:-
- What is the internet?
- Accessing websites such as the BBC, Google etc.
- Using the internet for research
- Shopping online
- Internet safety
Basic Computing for Beginners
4 hours tuition - £108
Suitable for those wishing to use a computer for the first time, this course is particularly popular with older people. Learning can be split into 4 x 1 hour, or 2 x 2 hours, or a block of 4 hours. Where feasible, this includes a set of written notes taken during your lesson. Topics covered:-
- The basics: from turning the computer on / off to using a mouse and keyboard
- Introduction to the Start Menu / Start Button
- What are windows, files and folders?
- The Desktop, icons, taskbar etc.
- Customising your computer
- What is a USB drive and where do CDs go?
- Avoiding computer viruses, trojans and online scams
Internet and Email Basics:
4 hours tuition - £108
Suitable for those with a basic knowledge of computers. this course is particularly popular with older people. Learning can be split into 4 x 1 hour, or 2 x 2 hours, or a block of 4 hours. Where feasible, this includes a set of written notes taken during your lesson. Topics covered:-
- What is email?
- Setting up an email account
- Composing, sending and receiving emails
- Email attachments e.g. photographs. Sending, opening and saving
