pay per click (PPC) - what is a landing page?
A 'landing page' is just what it says: the page your visitors land on when they click on a link to your website. You hear this term a lot when talking about Pay Per Click (PPC).
Let's assume I see an ad on the top or the right side of Google's search results, and that ad is for discount computer parts. I click on it. By doing so I'm taken to a page in your website - in other words, I have 'landed' on that page. If I don’t like what I see, I'll likely 'bounce' right back again and look for a better search result.
So on this landing page, it talks about all the wonderful things I need for my computer, at prices that won't bankrupt me. If the landing page is really, really well written, I'll keep on reading. If not, remember - I'll 'bounce' right away and back to Google! But, if the page is really good, I'll actually find what I want and probably buy it.
In Google Ads, how well you've organically optimised your landing page affects the price you pay for each keyword phrase click, so it is essential to optimise all the elements of the landing page to get a better cost per click!
