Website design : case study for Beyond Recycling - waste prevention and waste minimisation

Background

Beyond Recycling, waste prevention consultants, already had a web site. However, their site lacked lustre being all text and no images, which made it extremely dull. Moreover, despite having its own domain name it was being hosted on someone else's web space, and not performing in search engines at all (largely because they couldn't read past the web site 'masking' that was in place). All in all, a complete rethink was required.

M35 Design's task

As an emergency interim measure Beyond Recycling was moved to its own web space. Meta tags were inserted into the site, as well as Google Analytics code. A couple of months later the web site was totally rebuilt using some old textual content and some new, and decent photographic images were sourced. The site was up and running in time for a prestigious conference at which Beyond Recycling were presenting.

The future

Within a couple of weeks of Beyond Recycling's site moving to its own web space and getting meta tags, it started appearing in search engines. Whereas with their old site they weren't found on the internet at all apart from under the search phrase "beyond recycling", they are now at the top of page 1 in Google for their chosen key search words / phrases.
